Traveling the country in an RV is one of those uniquely American vacation excursions. The continent we live on is so rich with history, natural beauty and resources that it makes traveling across it a truly wonderful experience. The Grand Canyon National Park

Yes it’s a huge hole in the ground but it’s one of the most famous holes and if you’ve never seen it, you don’t know what you’re missing. There are tons of places to camp or boondock out under the stars in the wide open spaces of northern Arizona.

The huge chasm cut by the Colorado River is a site to see. It’s more than 270 miles long and in some places more than 18 miles wide. It isn’t something that can be fully experienced in one or two days which makes it a perfect stop for a good old-fashioned RV trip.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial

As you’re crisscrossing the vast expanses of roadway in the U.S., why not stop in and see some famous faces. Construction began on the mountainside in 1927 and it took nearly 400 workers to carve out the sculpted faces of Mount Rushmore. Each of the faces was chiseled by hand with a hammer.

There are a variety of campgrounds in South Dakota including a Mount Rushmore KOA. RV parks are plentiful around the site so there is no shortage of space to set up the motorhome or travel trailer for a few days and soak-in a unique part of U.S. history.

Fort Wilderness Resort: Disney World

For those of us traveling with children, you can’t pass up on some honest to goodness fun. Disney features over 750 acres of land, wild life and beauty at their resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. You can dine with Disney characters, take a sleigh ride or practice your archery skills.

The resort’s fully equipped campsites can accommodate tents and 45-foot and longer motorhomes and RVs. You can have a maximum of 10 guests per site so even large families in the biggest motorhomes can have fun at the resort.

Crater Lake National Park

The National Park Service bills this attraction as one that is “Like No Place Else On Earth”. The lake has been an inspiration to visitors for many millennia. The most unique part of the site is the deep blue lake surrounded by 2,000 foot-high cliffs, two post-card-like islands and tons of wildlife. Crater Lake also has a very interesting and violent volcanic past. There is also an outdoor laboratory and classroom on-site.
