5 Must See Attractions In Dubai

Last updated on December 13, 2015

Dubai truly is one of the most amazing places to visit in the entire world. Here are some of the highlights you simply have to see when you fly over to Dubai.

Burj Khalifa

Home to the prestigious Armani Hotel, the Burj Khalifa is also known for being the tallest building, tower and free-standing structure in the world, stood at over 2,700 feet high. Located in downtown Dubai, this must see attraction also boasts some of the best viewing points of Dubai City. A trip can be taken to level 124, where you can experience a view ‘At The Top’ and have the opportunity to capture images, both mentally and physically that you will remember/take with you forever. Overall, the Burj Khalifa is most definitely an amazing structure and is also considered to be one of the greatest highlights of any visit to the Middle East.

Burj Al Arab

Translated as the ‘Tower Of The Arabs’, the Burj Al Arab is known for being the world’s first and only 7 star hotel from 1999 up until 2008. Stood at 1050 feet tall and also known for being the fourth tallest hotel in the world, this luxurious modern structure dominates the skyline when you are stood on Dubai’s Famous Jumeirah Beach. Built on an artificial island, the hotel was designed to resemble the shape of a billowing sail and is only connected to the mainland by one private winding bridge, providing exclusive access only. Also known for being one of the most photographed structures in the world, the hotel also has many viewpoints to capture your own. In conclusion, the Burj Al Arab is considered one of the most iconic symbols in Dubai and any trip to Dubai would not be complete without seeing it.

The Palm Islands

Made up of two artificial islands constructed from sand unearthed/brought up from the bottom of the Persian Gulf, these palm tree shape islands that consist of a tree trunk and multiple fronds truly are a pinnacle of modern creation. The palm islands are home to amazing attractions such as world famous hotels, luxury fashion and shopping centres as well as a 4km long peninsula all protected by a breakwater constructed from over 7,000,000 tonnes of individually placed rock. Palm Jumeirah has been habitable since the end of 2006 and is known for being home to celebrities such as Barbara Walters, Enrique Igesias and Anna Kournikova. This island formation adds 78km to Dubai’s coastline and now has a fully operational monorail system; however it is not yet connected to other public transport. The other artificial archipelago Palm Jebel Ali, which is 50% larger than the Palm Jumeirah Project, is unfortunately currently uninhabited and construction has been put on indefinite hold. However when completed, it is said that this island will have a water park, 6 marinas and boardwalks encircling each fond of the palm tree. All in all, the palm islands are definitely one of the most spectacular attractions that Dubai has to offer and is definitely worth a visit

The World Islands

This one of a kind attraction is also an artificial archipelago, consisting of various small islands that have been constructed and placed in the formation of a rough shape of the actual world’s continents and countries. This unique island formation was also constructed using the same means involved with construction of the Palm Islands and is located 4km off the coast of Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach. Unfortunately just like that of the Palm Jebel Ali, this multi-billion pound development that was designed to make Dubai the envy of the world has also ground to a halt. The development has also said to have caught a huge amount of attention from many famous people that all want their own little piece of the world. These islands are certainly one to watch and will certainly offer a unique experience if ever visited whilst in Dubai.

The Dubai Fountains

Dubai also boasts the holding of another record and that is also being home to the world’s largest dancing fountain. Able to be seen from over 20 miles away and made up from over 6,600 WET super lights and 25 colour projectors, the famous dancing fountains shoot water as high as 500 feet high with their powerful jets during daily performances. They are set on the 30 acre Burj Khalifa Lake and were designed by the creators of the famous fountains at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The fountains are visually spectacular and also showcase amazing modern creativity, ultimately offering an amazing experience and are widely considered a must see attraction. If you haven’t been to Dubai yet, you should make it one of the next places you explore. Who knows, you might even end up staying there for good!
