5 Quick Fixes To A Style That Doesn’t Work

Last updated on December 13, 2015

If you are frustrated with your wardrobe and feel like the clothes you have aren’t as fun as you’d like them to be, the chances are that you have the wrong type of clothes. It is very easy to end up with the wrong style because there is so much to choose from these days. But don’t worry; it is possible to fix your style. Here are five very simple and quick ways to fix a bad style.

1. Analyse Your Shopping Patterns

First, it is a good idea to look at your wardrobe and think about your shopping patterns. You’ll probably quickly see that you keep buying the same type of clothes.

It might be that you go for items that are always the same model such as an A-line skirt or you might notice that your wardrobe just screams of a country style.

Break this pattern and force yourself to go with something that you normally wouldn’t. Just getting a pair of straight cut jeans instead of skinny jeans might make you feel different.

2. Pick A Style Icon

You can also fix your style and give it a bit more direction by selecting a style icon. For instance, look at this Style.com’s list of the top ten best style icons. Select one of the women from the list and start implementing her look on your wardrobe. This can really help your look be more focused and give you better direction when you are out shopping for new items.

3. Consider Your Lifestyle

It is also a good idea to really look at your wardrobe through your lifestyle. If majority of your items are fit for hanging out at home but you actually go out to eat and to formal events a lot then you clearly have a problem.

It is really important that your wardrobe reflects your lifestyle and the things you are going to do in the next six months. So consider the events and occasions you are going to and see how well your wardrobe performs.

4. Shop Alone

It can actually be a lot more beneficial to shop for clothing alone. If you shop with a friend then it is really easy for them to say what you want to hear or project their own sense of style onto you, even if they do this unconsciously.

The main point is that ultimately you are the only one wearing the clothing anyway. So if you don’t like it there isn’t really any point in getting it.

5. Prepare To Return It

Returning clothing can be a bit of a hassle but it is important to get used to it. There are some rules for shopping clothing whether you do it online or in the shop and one of them is that you need to know the return policy. We all buy a piece of clothing sometimes that we really might not like anymore once we get home.

So make sure you recheck your shopping the next day at home and think again whether you like it or not. And return it if the answer is no.
