Dubai’s Adrenaline Pumping Attractions

Last updated on June 25, 2016

Dubai is home to an array of amazing attractions that appeal people from across the globe year-after-year. With a number of luxury hotels, golden beaches, shopping meccas, world-class spas and high-end restaurants, it is not hard to see why it is a popular tourist destination for both first time visitors and those who keep going back time and time again.

However, in addition to the many relaxing activities the city has to offer travellers, there are a number of fun, fast and furious attractions that are ideal for those travellers seeking a thrill and wanting to get their adrenaline pumping. We are going to look at three of these adrenaline pumping attractions, ensuring that the world’s adrenaline junkies know exactly what they can do and what they can expect while visiting the city:

The World’s Fastest Roller Coaster

Prepare to feel the full extent of G-force as your body is catapulted forward on the world’s fastest roller coaster. Dubai is a city that is set on breaking a number of world records – and has already accomplished the largest suspended aquarium in the world, the tallest building in the world, and the largest mall in the world – so it is only natural for the city to be home to the world’s fastest roller coaster, too. Formula Rossa is located at Ferrariworld – which is, give or take, one and a half hours drive from Dubai’s city centre – and the attraction launches its riders to a top speed of 239 kilometres an hour in under five seconds, with no breaks throughout the entire ride until it comes to a halt. This means that the ride continues the level of intensity throughout. Adrenaline junkies should prepare to feel as if their skin is being peeled off of their face – yikes!

Take the Plunge

Visiting Aquaventure, a Dubai aquapark, is a little less extreme than taking on the world’s fastest roller coaster, but don’t underestimate the rides that call this wet and wild water park their home. All of the water park’s rides are laid out in two separate but main towers: The Tower of Poseidon and The Tower of Neptune, and each tower boasts some impressive adrenaline pumping rides that will push any thrill seeker to their limit. One of the most terrifying rides is Poseidon’s Revenge, as riders are enclosed in a see-through vertical tube and are standing on a trap door which opens at any moment. Once it opens, riders plummet towards the ground at 60 kilometres per hour before the fury of Poseidon forces your upside down. Another thrilling ride is one of the park’s original rides, and is called The Leap of Faith. This water ride can be found at The Tower of Neptune and consists of a near vertical drop that is nine stories tall; riders reach the bottom in only a second and then find themselves sliding at a speed through a clear acrylic tube surrounded by sharks and cownose rays.

Jump Out of a Plane

I cannot say that I would do this myself, but I can only imagine that jumping out of a plane – or skydiving – is one activity that many thrill seekers would love to take part in. The sheer rush must be an incredible feeling, and where better to do it than in Dubai with an amazing view. Jump out of a plane at 13 000 feet in the air with Skydive Dubai and see Dubai from a whole new dizzy perspective and height. For those who have never taken a leap out of a plane before, they can skydive in tandem while attached to an expert, meaning they can hold on tight and enjoy the views of the city landscape and attractions below while the expert does all of the work. I’m still not convinced, but maybe you are?
