Kinds of Education

  • Formal education: It is divided into three stages as preschool, primary school, secondary school and then college and university.
  • Non formal education: includes adult basic education or school equivalency preparation. They learn other basic skills and job skills too.
  • Informal education: It is less organized. It can be as simple as a parent teaching their child how to eat or cycle etc. Whatever we learn throughout our lives is informal education.

Our Education System

In India, our education system is provided by public schools, which is controlled by three levels that is central, state and local and private schools. Few articles of the Indian constitution states that free and compulsory education is provided to children between the age groups of 6-14. There is a great progress in the attainment rate of primary education in India. In 2011, 75% of India’s population aged between 7 to 10 was illiterate. The increased rate of literacy has contributed to the economic development. Secondary education to most of the students has also increased since 2013. Age groups of 6-14 are receiving education from government-run schools in the form of private school system.

Exams

As mentioned above, exams are conducted to check the knowledge or IQ, students possess. There are three streams one can choose after 10th grade that is science, commerce and arts and science is comparatively more difficult. The main reason students choose science is to study medical or engineering after their 12th grade. Medical has many branches and there is an exam after 12th grade that one has to clear to get admission into good universities for medical and dental which is NEET- National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test and is now conducted by NTA. These exams are conducted once in every year, usually in May. NEET 2020 exam is expected to be online. There is an increase in the importance of online exams.
