Lenovo K6 Vs K6 Power Comparison

Last updated on October 25, 2016

Amidst all the high-profile announcements, Lenovo brought the party to IFA with a new series of super-affordable smartphones. The company introduced its all new K6 series with three models: LenovoK6, K6 Power and the massive K6 Note.

While K6 Note extends Lenovo’s famous Note family, the more affordable K6 and K6 Power are the ones to look into. They share the same set of specs under-the-hood and look very similar inside out. Same design, same build-quality, and also a fingerprint scanner on the back panel.

Though Lenovo has got everything at the right place, we still don’t what’s changes from K6 to K6 Power? Is it just power-efficiency or there’s more?Well, there has to be because it’s not every day when a company like Lenovo launches three identical phones sharing exactly similar internals.

Design and Build Quality

Lenovo has introduced some big-changes with the launch of K6 series. The new K6 and K6 Power look absolutely identical from the outside. They feature a beautiful metal body with curved corners and a clean back which incorporates dual antenna lines, fingerprint scanner, and a slightly protruding camera lens. The idea of a smooth back and slim profile ups the comfort factor, but if not handled with care, we’re pretty sure both beauties can slip out of your hand.

Long story short, along with the good looks and enhanced durability, you’ve to make sure Lenovo K6 and K6 Power are held firmly. The entire profile looks very good and there’s hardly anythingthat disappoints us. After some big mistakes, it’s good to see that Lenovo’s design unit has given special attention to ergonomics and aesthetics for their latest releases.

Display

Just like design, the viewing experience is also similar on Lenovo K6 and K6 Power. Both phones promise colour-rich imagery and make a nice package with an IPS panelof 5-inches. The full-HD display used by Lenovo looks great under sunlight and offers detailed output with 441 pixels per inch. It might not look as good as an AMOLED display, but can do the job nicely, especially at a price well below INR 10k. So, if you’re looking for an affordable phone with a display that offers detailed and crisp visuals, Lenovo K6 and K6 Power should definitely live up to your expectations.

Performance and Internals

Under the hood, all K6 phones deploy the same Snapdragon 430 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The octa-core chipset holds sufficient power for glitch-free usage and pairs up with Adreno 505 GPU above par gaming. It might not touch Snapdragon 650 standards, but can do the job without stuttering or heating up unexpectedly.

Up till here, everything looks good except for the memory options. As noted by Lenovo, K6 Proper will come with 2 gigabytes of RAM and in two storage options, one with 16 gigabytes of inbuilt storage and other with 32 gigs. This looks quite tempting for a device priced lower than the new Moto E, but in case you need a better offering, you’ll have to go for K6 Power which comes invariants including 2GB/16GB and 3GB/32GB storage. Both phones will also offer support for expansion up to 256 gigs via microSD.

Software

Lenovo K6 and K6 Power run company’s proprietary UI on the top of the Android 6 Marshmallow. The interface isn’t heavily bloated or customized, but isn’t stock either. It comes with colourful app-icons, themes, and wallpapers, and looks good with sweet flavour of Marshmallow. In a nutshell, everything is quick and snappy on both phones, but expecting flagship-level performance or an update to marshmallow won’t be right here.

Camera

Both K6 models use a 13-megapixel rear and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper with features like autofocus, LED flash, HDR, and Geo-tagging. They both go neck and neck and promise detailed imaging in all environments. The low-light shots are extremely crisp, but it might be disappointing for many Lenovo fansthat the company hasn’t added phase detection autofocus or a dual-LED flash on either model. Though image processing is right on the market, the essentials of modern smartphone camera are still missing from on both handsets.

Battery Life

A big difference comes with the amount of power that each device draws. Lenovo’s K series is known for power-efficiency, but the new K6 Power adds a lot more with a big 4,000 mAh battery. The Marshmallow-based handset packs a massive battery in the sub-10k price bracket and brings the fight straight against Xiaomi’s heavily touted Redmi 3s Prime. Even its younger and more affordable sibling, K6 bears a very impressive 3,000 mAh battery. It might not last as long as K6 Power, but handles hefty usage easily and lasts more than a day without running out of power.

K6 Power is the undisputed winner in terms of battery life, but if you’re running on a tight budget, K6 can also come handy with a slightly smaller, but a fairly impressive battery packed inside.

Conclusion

While Lenovo has not revealed its latest price plan, we expect to see Lenovo K6 and K6 Power around 7 or 8k. The launch date is also unconfirmed, but seeing the plethora of releases from the company, we might soon see K6 and K6 Power hitting the shelves.

As for design and display, there’s hardly any difference between the two phones. They both handle multi-tasking nicely and hold enough to power run all high-end apps and games. However, if you still need more power for hours of gaming, web-surfing, calling, and social networking, Lenovo K6 Power would make a better package. The device includes an additional 3GB RAM variant and packs a bigger battery inside. So, even after hours of gaming, social-networking and music playback, you’ll have sufficient memory as well as power to keep things up and running for the rest of the day.Lenovo K6 Power, a device for heavy users will change the scenario of entry-level smartphone market in India.
