Love Taking a Dip Outdoors? Follow These Tub Maintenance Tips for Hassle Free Baths

Taking a long hot bath in the outdoors is a great way to relieve stress, take away the tension in your body and enjoy the view that Mother Nature has to offer for free. Equipping your home with an outdoor tub is a great idea, especially if you host get-togethers. Your friends and family can share in the goodness of taking a long soak with possibly wine and cheese to go with it. But placing an outdoor bathtub requires specific cleaning and maintenance to ensure that every time you use it will run without a hitch. Here are some steps you can take to ensure the cleanliness and good running condition of your outdoor bathtub.

Make rinsing a habit

As soon as you finish soaking in the tub, make it a habit to flush the entire bathtub. Draining the water but not rinsing the tub will leave soap residue and scum, which can accumulate over time and cause you problems in the long run, such as growing mould, dirt and grime accumulation and hardened deposits. Rinsing every time after you use your tub will prevent these things from happening.

Keep it dry

When you finish rinsing, get a soft dry cloth to wipe down the whole bathtub. Whirlpool baths left outdoors when wet may harbour germs and bacteria that can cause illnesses to those who use the tub. Have a dry cloth handy every time you use it so that you don’t forget to wipe it down.

Take out the vinegar

Vinegar is a strong acid that can take out even the most stubborn dirt. Put vinegar mixed with water in a spray bottle and spray the whole tub, paying more attention to the jets and the drain. These components in the whirlpool tub may accumulate hardened deposits, as the jets recirculate the water to create streams. You can also make the metal components shiny with a vinegar and baking soda mixture.

Use a soft bristled brush

Don’t be too harsh on your bath. Hard bristles may scratch the surface of the tub, and over time the scratches may become visible and be an eyesore. Choose a soft-bristled brush if you need to brush the jets free of dirt and grime.

Enlist a professional’s help

One of the things you can spend on for your tub is hiring a professional to check the overall condition of your bathtub. If you have no inkling about your tub’s plumbing, enlisting the help of an expert is the way to go. If you notice that one or more jets are not spewing water and cleaning them does not do the trick, call your plumber so he can provide the right solution.

Make sure to take note of these tips to make your tub last for many more years. Neglect can cause any fixture to deteriorate faster than its expected lifespan if you have enough space indoors to take it in during extreme weather conditions, all the better.
