Before India gained independence from the British rule, several diploma courses that existed in the fields of Engineering & Technology had been offered reputed institutions like the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (Mumbai), College of Engineering (Pune), Government Polytechnic (Nagpur), and Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology (Pune).
