The state of Rajasthan has a number of attractions and places for tourists. There were several princely states in Rajasthan before Independence. This is why you would find a number of forts and palaces in Rajasthan than signify the vast royal history of the state. A part of the National Capital Region, Alwar is a small urban town in Rajasthan. It is also the official headquarter of Alwar district and was a former capital of the princely state of Alwar. It is a nice destination for a perfect getaway, especially for the people of the NCR and Delhi. Alwar falls at a distance of around 100 miles from Delhi and Jaipur, both. Even though it is a short drive from Delhi, there are many hotels in Alwar where you can stay in order to invest more time in exploring the place.

Alwar has a rich history of royal rulers and Maharaja Alaghraj and Pratap Singh are some of the mentionable and historic names. Alwar was the first Rajputana to sign a treaty with the British. Post independence all the princely states of Alwar were merged together to form the Matasya Union, which was further merged with neighbouring princely states over time. Alwar has many attractions and traditional signatures that you can discover. It hosts a remarkable olive plantation in a place called Tinkirudi. Kalakand or milk cake is a famous sweet from the place. The place is rich in mineral too. You would find people of many different ethnicities living settled in Alwar. Kite flying is a major festival in the town which is celebrated on the eve of Rakshabandhan. Although Alwar is a hot place in summers, it becomes extremely cold at nights during the winters. You can beat these odds by extending your trip to Sariska Tiger Reserve situated in the Aravallis range. It hosts not just tigers but many rare species of birds and plants as well. Such a trip can further enrich your travel experience.

Another popular attraction in Alwar is the Bhangarh Fort which is an archeological site and most commonly known to be a haunted place. There are old legends about the place and people visit it despite the rumours with a hope that might encounter the thrill of something supernatural perchance. It is, however, prohibited to stay inside the fort after sunset and before sunrise and hence visitors need to return to their hotels in Alwar. Fairy Queen is a popular medium of sightseeing in Alwar as this train which features one of the oldest rail engines is now solely used for tourism by the Indian railways. It runs between Delhi and Alwar and offers a nice view of the entire stretch of the area during the ride.

You can find many budget hotels in Alwar and stay for a couple of days or more to visit other attractions, such as Bala Quila or the Alwar fort, Itarana, Pandupole, Jain Mandir Tijara, and Dehmi. It is always a refreshing experience to travel to new places. All you have to do is to just pack the travel gear and head off.
