Romantic Spots To Propose In Savannah GA

Before the engagement party and the wedding ceremony, there is the proposal. It can be the most romantic and unforgettable proposal ever made in your girlfriend’s opinion—or it can go the other way and she’ll wish to forget about it. Not a lot of men are fans of the idea of a fairy-tale proposal, but they also dislike rejections. So when going down on the knees and proposing to a woman, a man’s best bet is doing it in Savannah. The oldest city in Georgia is filled with picture-perfect spots that all she’ll think about is saying, “Yes!”

Oglethorpe Square

If there’s one unique thing about Savannah to describe it, it’s their 22 legendary, centuries-old squares located downtown. Oglethorpe Square is one of the first squares installed and is located on Abercorn, between State and York Street. What makes Oglethorpe romantic is the preserved history linked to its structure. Plus, there are no vehicles that cross the square; they all go around it, so it’s like an oasis of tranquility to help you gather your courage. Walk on the square, check out the statues and fountains, and sit on the bench. The place is a natural setup for a proposal.

Presidents’ Quarters Inn

If you’re going to find a place to stay in Savannah, strike off the modern hotels from your list and check in to a bed and breakfast with a mixed ambience of Southern history and culture. Presidents’ Quarters Inn was built in 1855 and was recently renovated in 2007. But the inn carefully preserved their 16 suites with decorative fireplaces. There are also rooms with private balconies that offer a view of the courtyard garden. This bed and breakfast is ideal if you’re looking for privacy but in a romantic setting.

Tybee Lighthouse

The Tybee Lighthouse is just half an hour away from Savannah and is located on Tybee Island, which is also a great place to visit as a prelude to your proposal. Walk on its beach and you might be able to find some endangered loggerhead turtles nesting in the dunes. A Civil War fort is also a must-see attraction if both of you are into history. And of course, the 178-stair Tybee Lighthouse is where your feet will take you at the end of the day. It’s one of the country’s oldest and tallest lighthouses and once you declare your intentions, she won’t be able to resist you amidst the beautiful surroundings.

Forsyth Park

The 30-acre Forsyth Park is found right in the heart of Savannah’s historic district and was originally built in the 1840s. Besides taking her for a walking tour around the park to see the statues and memorials, find your way to the fountain that bears a resemblance to the fountains in the Place de la Concorde in Paris. If you happen to be there on St. Patrick’s Day, expect the water to be green because of Savannah’s deep Irish heritage. In the evening, the Savannah Jazz Festival is ongoing at the large band shell, a perfect setting for a romantic proposal.
