Sightseeing in Nawalgarh

There are various pockets in Rajasthan that house numerous treasures. One such treasure is the small town of Nawalgarh, which is located in the Jhunjhunu district.

Nawalgarh was one of the least explored places in Rajasthan, but recently it is slowly making its way into the tourist map of Rajasthan. There are many hotels in rajasthan that are located in and some very near to Nawalgarh as well, making it easier for the interested traveller to spend quite a few days here.

There are a lot of things to see when in Nawalgarh. Let us take a look at some of the best sightseeing places in Nawalgarh:

  • Morarka Haveli: The most fascinating feature of the town of Nawalgarh is its havelis and the Morarka Haveli is one of the most interesting ones. The most attractive thing about this structure is that unlike other famous havelis of this town, this one did not have to be restored and it stands tall as it were on the day of its construction. Paintings of the walls of the haveli are certainly worth paying a visit.
  • The Poddar Haveli: This is the most celebrated haveli of Nawalgarh. It was in the 1920s that this haveli was built. One reason why this haveli is so popular is because of the paintings they have and what they depict. Technological marvels have found their way into the paintings, which capture the spirit of the age. The beautifully covered walls and the huge structure certainly has an awe inspiring effect. This place is quite well known in this small town and hence you will not find it difficult to the reach the Poddar Haveli from any one of the rajasthan hotels where you will be staying.
  • The Nawalgarh Fort:The Nawalgarh Fort is also known as the BalaKila Fort. It is one of the major attractions of this quaint little place. It was built in the year 1737. In the south eastern corner of the fort you will find some really amazing examples of the finest frescos of this region. In fact, a large part of this fort was destroyed with time but was later reinstated. The frescos in this part of the fort correspond to the Shekhawati region and are truly worth seeing.
  • Hira Lal Sarowgi Haveli:If you are an art lover or an inspiring artist then this is a must visit place for you. This haveli is visited by people from all across the world to witness the wonderful design on the haveli walls. There are paintings here too along with which floral designs and intricate carvings, which are a major highlight of this place. This haveli has the typical Rajasthani charm, hence making it one of the most coveted tourist sights of Nawalgarh.
  • The Sheesh Mahal:This palace of glass mirrors is another example of the advanced progress in art that this small place had made. You must watch out for the maps of Jaipur and Nawalgarh that cover the ceiling of this palace and is indeed a sight to behold.
