Sky Is Not the Limit: Adventure Travel Ideas

Adventure seekers are not interested in regular tourist attractions. They are searching for wild and beautiful places, hardly accessible to tourists, that give them both adrenalin rush and unique cultural experience. Great adventure can be found on some of the most unusual places, and in this article I’ve listed several suggestions for perfect adventure trips.

Transsiberian Railway

Riding the world’s longest railway is definitely the most Russian-like adventure journey you will ever embark on. It goes through some of the most pristine parts of this huge land, reaching steppes, birch forests and taigas, with winter temperatures on this railroad ranging from -40 to -60 degrees Celsius. All this can be enjoyed from the comfort of a warm bed with a cup of Russian black tea, smoked fish and rye bread bought from ladies who sell food to travelers on almost every station of the Transsiberian railway line.

On this trip you will see whole might of some of the biggest rivers in Eurasia, like: Ob, Angara, Yenisei and Lena. You will also swim and drink water from crystal clean Baikal Lake, climb up Stolby pillars near Krasnoyarsk, visit Siberian tiger reserve near Vladivostok or go on a little detour to hike around wild and beautiful Altay region.

Route 66

This historic American highway offers great opportunities for fun road-trip adventure. Although other routes offer better-quality roads, Route 66 is definitely the road you should take from Chicago to LA. While riding on this route you will be able to eat the biggest beef steak you ever tried at Amarillo, Texas, visit 2 out of 38 American Springfields, enjoy Oklahoma City’s famous Adventure District, eat a burger in the first McDonalds in San Bernardino and find out that Chandler’s impression of boring Tulsa is far from reality. So start your car engine, play Nat King Cole’s and Bobby Troup’s number one hit on the stereo and wonder off to the heart of American dream.

Tanzania

Tanzania offers great deals for adventure seekers. It stretches from Indian Ocean and vibrant Dar es Salaam through savannah plains, all the way to two biggest African lakes and mighty Kilimanjaro. Most adventure seekers go straight to the Kilimanjaro top, missing close encounters with chimpanzees in Mahale National Park on the Lake Tanganyika, Ngoro Ngoro crater, which is considered to be the cradle of civilization and picturesque Serengeti, place where lions and leopards roar. These are all places worth seeing, but one way or the other, any respectful adventurist will definitely end up on the top of Kilimanjaro, overlooking the picturesque continent from where our ancestors started their journey.

Antarctica

Until our civilization reaches far away worlds, Antarctica will stay the craziest adventure destination a traveler can reach. Most tours take travelers to Antarctic Peninsula which is the closest site to Tierra del Fuego. If you are reaching this continent from Australia or New Zealand, you will be able to view beautiful Ross Island and a mighty Transantarctic Mountain Chain. The least known part of the continent is East Antarctica, region without tourists and cruise ships. Even penguins don’t visit this frozen hell hole much. There you can find the Geomagnetic South Pole and Russian Vostok base with a Lenin monument located next to it. Wilkes Land is another interesting part of East Antarctica. There you can find Mawson’s Huts, used by Australian geologist Sir Douglas Mawson and the site where most part of X Files movie was shot.

Bottom Line

All these places seem pretty inaccessible. For adventure journeys listed in this article you will need a lot of motivation and even more cash, but with some training, lots of motivational reading and clever use of services like Travel Pay or some other similar payment plan you will be able to reach all of these adventure sites and have the time of your life.
