How To Use YouTube To Promote Your Business

There are quite a few people out there who are either afraid or simply do not want to utilize YouTube as a means for promoting their business. If this sounds like you then you should consider all of the benefits and some reasons why you should not fear this forum at all. One fact to remember is that the most popular videos on the site aren’t professionally made videos that come straight from Hollywood with the same production values. They are videos that are made by average everyday people like you and me. So, if you’ve been skeptical about making YouTube videos, here are some tips that may make the process less frightening.

Watch Popular Videos

You don’t have to go out on a limb and come up with these stunning one of kind videos, instead, watch popular videos and see what works for them. While you don’t want to copy the format exactly, you can take some ideas from each of the videos that you watch and implement them into your own unique video. Take an afternoon and just enjoy all the different video offerings on YouTube and you may find that it’s not a scary place at all.

Use Your Keywords

You already know your keywords for your products from your SEO efforts on your website. Make sure that you’re also using them in your YouTube videos too. You also want to try to use them in the title and in the comments section. There are also tags for your videos; these should also contain your keywords. Just remember that you also want to use keywords that describe the video for your viewers to find when they conduct searches.

“Borrow” Keywords from Other Videos

Keywords aren’t exclusive or trademarked in any way on the site so why not bother keywords from other videos that are similar in genre as yours? Just make sure you borrow them from popular videos as you want to piggy back on their popularity to get more views on your videos. You certainly don’t want to use keywords from videos that have no ranking on the site. And don’t forget, if you’re not getting the views you want, there is always the option to purchase them to build up your count if you choose.

Pick a Great Thumbnail

YouTube typically defaults to a thumbnail for you but you don’t have to use the one they choose. It may not be a good representation of the subject of your video. When given the choice of the thumbnail, look through the ones that are offered and choose the one you prefer. The other option is to create your own thumbnail and use that instead by going to the Edit section of the video and choose to upload your thumbnail.

There’s really nothing to be frightened of when it comes to promoting your business through YouTube. You don’t have to be in front of the camera or even talk on video if you don’t choose to. Pick an employee who has the personality for it and a desire to be the “star” and let them have all the fun!
