100 Years of Women’s Fashion [Infographics]

Clothes say a lot about you. People can get their first impression from the way that you dress. While some like to stand out for both good and not so good reasons, others prefer to blend in with the crowd by being subtle with their choice of women’s fashion. In the 1920s, women’s fashion included shorter dresses. Women’s calves and ankles were exposed which was uncommon.

The 40s and 50s saw the hemline rise yet again and this time women were bolder as their clothes were slightly below their knees. In the 60s and 70s, women were talking about liberation and general dress code changed and shaped modern day fashion. Not only were hemlines raised but their thighs were also exposed. Hot pants, miniskirts and bikinis were being worn openly and fashion was no longer conservative. This marked the way for the modern woman to express herself in her dressing. Today, women’s fashion is no longer about covering yourself up but about preferences.
