5 Not So Boring Uses For Office Stationery
Office stationery. We all use it, but HOW do we use it? Products such as post-it notes are not known for their excitement factor… but office stationery can be far more versatile than you think. Here are our top five not so boring uses for a variety of office stationery items:
1. Scotch magic tape to smudge-proof labels
Scotch magic tape is great for wrapping gifts and sealing envelopes, but the uses of this product are far more widespread. Waterproof and clear, it can be taped over all sorts without being visible.
These qualities make Scotch magic tape the perfect solution when looking to protect labels from smudging. If you are growing plants and want to waterproof labels to differentiate between them, or if you are labelling jars of homemade preserves, Scotch magic tape can be used to cover your labels and prevent them from becoming smudged.
2. Hole punches to create homemade confetti
Getting married and trying to economise? There is no need to spend money on expensive confetti if you have a hole punch at home or in your office. Simply take a number of sheets of paper in your wedding’s colour scheme, and use the hole punch to create your own. It’s simple and affordable – and, even better, it’s biodegradable too.
3. Turn paper clips into bookmarks
Is your office full of large paper clips that never get used? It’s easy to turn these into bookmarks or page markers for important documents. Use polymer clay or similar to create a picture or pattern of your choosing, attach it to one side of the paper clip with superglue and you have yourself a simple bookmark. Alternatively, decorate with ribbon, a small origami model or similar to create a homemade bookmark that expresses your personality.
4. Turn pencil erasers into earring backs
Earring backs are notoriously easy to lose – once dropped, they are so small that it can be tough to find them again – especially when you are in the office. Luckily, there is a solution. If you have a supply of pencils with erasers at one end, these can be your saviour! Simply cut off a small disc of rubber from the end of the pencil, and use this as an earring back. The eraser will be soft enough to push the earring through, but will hold it in place perfectly.
5. Post-it notes as a DIY aid
Who would have known that such a simple piece of paper could save a lot of mess and hassle when doing DIY? Putting up shelves or picture hooks, for example, will involve drilling into your walls, which can cause a great deal of mess that will need to be cleaned up from your carpets. A post-it note stuck underneath where you are drilling, however, and folded upwards to create a shelf will catch the debris and save your floor from needing to be cleaned.
