5 ways to wear Kajal

Lakme Eyeconic kajal

Amongst the myriad of beauty products that dominate the market, kajal is perhaps amongst those used almost universally. Its versatility is impeccable and it effects remarkable; subsequently, it demands constant innovation and novel ideations. Applying kajal with panache is no small feat: one has to cross the hurdles of longevity, smudginess, smoothness etc. before one can cross over to experimenting in a plethora of styles.

Lakme Eyeconic kajal ensures that these hurdles disappear, so that one can indulge in some fashionable creativity without the burden of technical worries. It can be bought online or can be purchased at any average cosmetic shop. Its long lasting quality ensures that the kajal stays on for a considerable part of the day. The strokes are usually dark, with impeccable finesse, which makes it a recommended buy, especially if one is in the habit of applying kohl on a daily basis. Now that the basics have been taken care of, here are some of the ways in which one can be creative with kajal and eye- makeup:

The basic way of putting kajal entails two clean strokes on the upper and lower lid. The strokes are usually thin and meet inconspicuously on the outer corner of the eye. It is the most conventional way of applying kajal and is popular for the quickness with which it can be applied. It’s the perfect kind for a casual day out or if one is in some hurry to get things done.

This refers to a strong single line of kajal on the lower or the upper lid of the eye. While application on the upper lid lends a formal and sophisticated look which is compatible with office wear or formal parties, applying kohl on the lower lid usually depicts ease, comfort or a casual approach. The latter is useful if one does not want to apply full- fledged make- up but wants to lend some strength to otherwise pale eyes.

Stark eye make- up requires a little bit of work. Before application, one has to apply white eye shadow to the upper lid (or even the lower lid in some cases). Then kohl is applied in brisk angular strokes to accentuate and highlight the eyes. Doe- eye make up is done along similar lines but with thicker and deeper strokes that meet in a ‘u’ at the corners. This lends a delicate, sophisticated and stark look.

This retro style has made somewhat of a glorious comeback in recent times. One can pull the line of kohl a little higher than normal either on the lower or the upper lid and literally give the eyes ‘wings’. The curve usually rests somewhere between the corner of the eye and the end of the eyebrow. One can do this with both the lower and the upper lash at the same time as well. This is called the ‘double wing’ in which the upper lid is given a high- flying wing while the lower lid displays a delicate downward curve.

To achieve this effect one has to apply deep and dark strokes on the upper and lower lid at least twice or thrice over. The kohl that is used in this kind of eye make up is usually much darker so that the eyes can look heavily done. The strokes are thicker as well, which allows the eyes a bold and accentuated look that is unparalleled.
