Distribution
The replication of CDs and DVDs has changed the way that businesses can distribute products and information to a national and international community. So thee question remains–why is the replication of CD and DVDs important? One of the main reasons is that the global community is focused on sharing and storing media and data on a daily basis. CDs and DVDs allow business as well as the common consumer to add various types of media content on them.
Mass production is another advantage to CD and DVD replication for businesses in Newbury Park because they can produce a certain media content product based on supply and demand. They can control how many products are distributed and where they will go. If changes need to be made to the quality of the content, they can easily be added or removed from the disks. The ability to mass produce and create a product that can be easily distributed is very advantageous to a business. This is especially true of record companies and film production companies, who depend on the distribution and mass production of their brand.
Replication
The same can be said for software developing companies such as Adobe and Microsoft who produce software that is then stored on a CD-ROM or disk. Because so many clients and computer users need these software products it is advantageous of these companies to duplicate various data onto CDs and DVDs.
One of the reasons why this is cost effective for a business is because once the data is developed for final production it can be replicated however many times it needs to be. This saves time and money in the long run because mass producing CDs or DVDs is easily accomplished through manufacturing and automated machines. These disks are also inexpensive to manufacture and then the data just needs to be copied to the disk through a computer. The data is burned directly onto the disk and then it is ready to be packaged and shipped to various locations. Unlike other products and services, replicating CDs or DVDs does not require continued manufacturing in order to make the product. It is simply done once the data is copied to the disk.
New technology has made CD and DVD replication an option not only for large corporations or small businesses, but also for the everyday computer user. Most computers automatically come with a CD burner or replicator that can install data onto a CD or DVD. For example say a user wants to make a home movie and then copy the final project onto a DVD so they can play it on a DVD player. This can easily be accomplished with a basic computer and some software that usually comes standard with a computer operating system. Of course this type of replication is most likely for a small amount of disks being copied. For a business or a corporation, it would need to be done at a larger scale with equipment that could produce mass quantities.
