This topic may come across as strange to the avid traveler; why on earth would you want to travel to another country to visit a cafe? Let alone, a cafe in Bangkok no doubt! Don’t fret, there are reasons for this! The reason being a lot of people focus on the bars and restaurants so much so, many seem to overlook cafes. Cafes in theory can provide a great source of entertainment as well as providing delicious food for a great price. Interested?
Now, you’ve probably heard of maid cafes and cat cafes in Japan. But, have you heard about the cat cafe in Bangkok? Yep. Bangkok does has it’s very own cat cafe with a bunch of felines lounging around, expressing their overall cuddliness. Located at Sukhumvit Soi 53 (which can be easily accessed by getting off Thong Lor BTS station), this cat cafe has several breeds of cats walking or laying around the cafe for you to snap photos of. Of course, the cafe is known for it’s amazingly good food and drinks as well, just to keep you occupied, of course. But if you’re one who needs to take away food, the cafe offers take home food service as well. The Purr Cat Cafe Club is open from Mondays to Sunday, from 11 AM to 9 PM. Although keep in mind for those who are allergic to cats, well, don’t fret; there are other cafes you can enjoy without succumbing to sever dander allergies!
If you’re the type of customer who likes to be surrounded with greenery while relaxing out in the garden, then Gastro 1/6 may be your best bet. Located comfortably by the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center MRT, this garden cafe is a highly popularized location for locals and expats. Offering a non-buffet lunch, you can order a variety of homemade Western delicacies which tempt to be tasted. Keep in mind though, the prices for this cafe are quite high but never judge a cafe by it’s prices and the raving reviews this place received. Never miss out on their one of a kind lunch menus; their menus keep rotating and every time you go there, you’ll end up finding something new!
Don’t be fooled by the name Mr. Jones Orphanage; it’s not what you think! Located at Thong Lor Soi 13, this storybook-like cafe is perhaps one of the most enchanting cafes in Bangkok alone. A décor to represent our kiddish fantasies expressed as merry-go-round carousels, scattered books on shelves and soft toys to compliment the space, this is one cafe you can’t miss! Mr. Jones Orphanage is best known for their homemade goodies such as Chocky Mudpie, Oreo Pizza, Mum’s Apple Pie and cakes sprinkled with smarties? Yes! One of the best places to come for dessert and escape the hectic city life. A warm and comforting cafe to bring out the child sleeping inside all of us!
Last on the list is Kindi Station, located in various spots around Bangkok. Kindi Station, or translated as “Eating Right Station”, is a charming cafe decorated with pastel colored chairs, teddy bears and beautiful chandeliers to set the tone. One of the Kindi Stations are located close to Huay Khwang MRT (next to Le Swiss Concorde Hotel) offers guests with a wide variety to delectable selectables of cake. Mudcake, almond brownies, dark chocolate cake, white chocolate cake, triple layered chocolate flavored cakes and more. Although not a lot of people come here, it’s a great place to sit and drink that cup of coffee or enjoy a glass of chayen by yourself without any city-based interruptions.
