Here, each year an annual festival is celebrated in months of October/ November when river spills out of tank at a predetermined moment. Madikeri Fort originally was a mud fort built by Mudduraja. It was rebuilt with stone by Tipu Sultan. There is a palace inside this fort and this place has witnessed various fierce battles. This fort is another famous attraction among many tourist places in Coorg. Each year thousands of tourists visit this place because of its archaeological significance and marvellous architecture. The fort offers breathtaking views of the city.
Scenic destinations such as Chelavara fall, Dubare elephant camp, Mandalapatti, Harangi Dam and Cauveri Nisargadhama are other famous tourist places in Coorg. Apart from this, for wildlife enthusiast Nagarhole National Park is an ideal place to visit where you get to see the sepctacular wildlife from close quarters.
