Almost everyone can say that they have taken a trip down the road and had a house catch their eye. They’ve seen that one house that stood out from the rest. They have looked at the house and pictured it on the front of a home gardening magazine. They have thought to themselves that the owners of that beautiful house must have given up thousands of dollars to a professional landscaper to make it that nice, right? Well, maybe, but if one doesn’t have thousands of dollars to spend on professional landscaping, just use some of these free landscaping ideas to spruce up your houses eye catching appeal.
Give your house year round color. It is easy to give landscaping an eye catching color using flowers, which is a great idea. However, if you live in an area where those colorful flowers are only a seasonal luxury or you just want something different, keep reading. Look for non-conventional items that you could use for planters. For example, find a large wooden crate and paint it a single color that compliments the color of the house. Use the power of three and symmetrically place three of the same sized crates along the front of your house. Or, you can also take the asymmetrical approach and find different sizes of the crate, use three different planters all together, paint them the same color, and stagger then on either side of your house. You can use as many different planters as you’d like, however, make sure that you only use one or two colors between the planters and the plants or it could end up being a bit overwhelming.
Stemming off of the last point in the previous paragraph, know that landscaping doesn’t always have to stay up close and personal with the house. Move the leafy greens, colorful flowers and eye catching planters across the front of the house and trickle off about a quarter of the way down the drive way. Give the viewers a little grass break, and recreate the beauty, on a much smaller scale, around your mail box. If your yard is a bit larger, don’t hesitate to go even bigger. Make your way about three quarters of the way down from your house, opposite of the landscaping you have flowing down the driveway. Frame out a circle right there in the yard represent the same creative arrangement you have been working with along the front of your house. This technique can be interesting to the eye and breaks away from the same old, same old.
There are many ways to spruce up the landscaping around your house that won’t require a professional landscaper. Having more than just flowers for color and flowing the landscaping gracefully away from the front of the house will be sure to make people take a second look. Don’t let your house blend in with the rest and keep your pennies in the bank by easily following some of the suggestions presented above.
