Diamonds are born deep in the realms of earth’s crust nearly a million years ago. They are mined, drilled and cut before they become the precious stone they are. Diamonds have for long been associated with love, woman, royalty, money and mystery. It is still a subject of interest till date, diamonds are used to express one’s love and affection and they are considered the best way to a woman’s heart.
Diamond Grading
There has been a long drawn suspicion for years and it still looms on diamond buyers till date while purchasing a diamond. In order to reassure diamond buyers there are many certification houses which came into existence to certify the diamond quality to avoid misconceptions. Famous certification houses are:
1. GIA (Gemological Institute of America) it is a leading gemmological laboratory in the world and widely used service. They employ over 1400 scientists, educators and certified diamond graders.
2. AGS (American Gemological Society) it is also a US based diamond certification laboratory, head quartered at Las Vegas, AGS is famous for their scientific approach and research into diamond cut grading.
3. EGL (European Gemological laboratory) it is European grading agency having global presence. EGL is known for pioneering diamond grading techniques for stones weighing less than a Carat. They are also famous for introducing SI3 clarity rating diamonds. They have wide acceptance in European market.
4. IGI (International Gemological Institute) it is based out of Antwerp, Belgium. It is the second most accepted diamond certification. They are very popular in Asian markets.
Diamond is forever
Someone rightly said “Diamond is Forever”, and so are the feelings associated with it. Hence, it is considered as the highest order for gifting. Someone eyeing at gifting a diamond to their dear ones has loads of options, starting from nose rings to Diamond Harams, from Diamond bangles to Diamond nakh nath, from Diamond necklace to Diamond earrings. The diamond necklace price in India largely varies according to with the number of carats, cut and clarity of the diamonds used in the Jewellery piece. For example a diamond necklace price with VVS1 grade diamonds would be far more costly than that of SI grade. In order to understand the price, one should have a brief of the 3Cs i.e. Colour, Cut and Clarity.

The diamond color evaluation of most gem-quality diamonds is based on the absence of color. A chemically pure and structurally perfect diamond has no hue, like a drop of pure water, and consequently, a higher value. There is a universal D-to-Z Colour Grading Scale, with ‘D’ as colourless.
-
Evaluating diamond clarity involves determining the number, size, relief, nature, and position of these characteristics, as well as how these affect the overall appearance of the stone. While no diamond is perfectly pure, the closer it comes, the higher its value. No inclusions and no blemishes visible to a skilled grader using 10 x magnifications are considered Flawless.

A Diamond’s Cut Unleashes Its Light. Diamond’s cut is crucial to the stone’s final beauty and value. A round brilliant diamond cut is the standard cut which dominates the diamond Jewellery industry. On the other hand few of the famous cuts are Princess Cut, Marquise cut, Pear Shaped etc.
