Apart from ticketing, tourism and catering operations the Indian Railway catering and Tourism Corporation has nailed into the e commerce business by selling apparels, home décor, foot wears and many more.
This is termed as one of the biggest partnership in the e comm. Business between Shop Online Trading Pvt Ltd and IRCTC and they are expecting big profit outcomes from the same. Where IRCTC will provide a large platform and customer base from each and every part of the country, SOTPL and Yebhi will manage the shopping portal for IRCTC, delivery of products, customer interface and overall development of the site. The IRCTC will create a section on its portal for shopping and the supply chain management will be handled by Yebhi at the back end and the railway site gets the benefits of tailored line of products from yebhi.com.
With this association the online shopping will not be limited to cities only rather this will reach the interiors of India bringing a dynamic change in the retail market, both the entities will be benefit each other says Mr. Nikhil Rungta; the Chief Business office of Yebhi.com and are looking forward to a sales profit of 200 crore in one year.
It is not new for IRCTC to expand itself apart from its original operations; lately they started with hotel booking, flight booking and also car rentals and have been foraying for expansion in the ecommerce world, according to hearsays IRCTC also pioneered a proposal last year for collaboration via their B2C commercial activity. This new tie up will help Railways in generating profit for its own good.
With the maximum clicks that it receives around a million, IRCTC has the largest web traffic in ticketing business with 180 million trades every year; they have taken a wise step to increase their business and profits by taking strategic advantage of the existing traffic through online shopping section in their web portal. Yebhi which gets 100 million clicks per year and has 2 million annual transactions will get a good customer base with this association.
With the increasing popularity of e commerce business, a survey has reported that the Rs 3,500crore business will increase in leaps up to Rs. 4.5 lakh crore by 2021 and eyeing on good profits the venture seems to be profitable in near future.
IRCTC will get the retail section on its portal in a month or so and will include sixteen categories. The development of the ecommerce site will be taken care by Yebhi along with the end to end user interactions. From updating products on the site, to launching new deal and offers, announcing sales, delivery, complaints and feedbacks, everything will be handled by Yebhi.
