Even though Sachin Tendulkar hardly got any time to play domestic cricket but then also whatever little he played, he made a mark on the minds of the people who got an opportunity to watch it. He also made a century on his debut in all the major tournaments he participated in. Some of the 5 best domestic innings he played are-

100* vs Gujarat in Mumbai (Ranji Trophy 1988)

This was the first century hit by Sachin in the first-class cricket, and it was hit on his Ranji Debut. It was a declaration to the world that Sachin has entered the cricket world with a bang and he is here to stay for a long time. Mumbai puts up a massive total of 394 in reply to Gujarat’s 140 in the 1st innings. The game ultimately ended in a draw.

 

140 and 139 vs Punjab (Ranji Trophy, Mumbai, 1995)

Even though the match ended in a draw but this match will be remembered for Sachin’s fine display of batting. He made a great 140 in the 1st innings and made another great 139 runs and was the top scorer in the second innings. Mumbai scored 500 plus in both the innings due to which Punjab had to chase a massive target in the last innings which was 832 runs.

204* vs Australia (Ahead of the India- Australia series, 1998)

Mumbai in this match gave a tough competition to the Australians and the credit completely goes to Sachin’s great knock of 204 not out. They gave a thundering defeat to the Australians and won the match with 10 wickets to spare. Sachin played a captains knock and made it clear and obvious to the Australians that they were playing with a strong side, ahead of the series that was to be played between India and Australia.

233* vs Tamil Nadu (Ranji Trophy, Mumbai, 2000)

This Ranji Trophy match against Tamil Nadu was totally dominated by Sachin which Mumbai clinched by 8 wickets and gracefully won the semi-finals. The Chief reason why Mumbai won the match was the Little Master’s great knock of 233 not out, which was the highest score after Tamil Nadu had set a competitive total of 485 in the first innings. Mumbai replied with 490, thanks to Sachin’s double ton that featured 21 fours and 5 sixes. In the second innings Tamil Nadu collapsed and Mumbai easily won the match. The way Sachin effortlessly pierced all the gaps, was a sight to watch.

199 vs East Zone (Duleep Trophy, Pune, 2001)

In this Duleep Trophy match in Pune against the east zone, Sachin made 199 and was unfortunately out at just 1 short of his double century. He played a blazing innings hitting 30 fours and 4 sixes in this special innings of his and entertained the crowd to the hilt. People went berserk seeing his innings and were jumping on their seats. Sachin started off slow but the way he accelerated, it was a joy to watch. West Zone won the match comfortably and dismissed Eat Zone twice on the same day.
