As you climb the ladder of corporate success or attain the same in your business, you are known by the sort of style you sport on your wrist. As they say, a man is defined by the his watch, shoes & the neatness of the attire he dons. So when you make a purchase of your favorite & branded time piece make sure you take care of it well. Given below are 10 of the easiest yet not so known tips & tricks on how to ensure that the watch on your wrist stays newer for longer:
i) Easiest Way to Maintain Your watch – One of the most basic ways to maintain your watch of your choice is to at all times avoid it from slipping out of your hands.
ii) Keep it Away from Humidity – One should always keep a watch in a place which is both cool & dry. This is because a humid environment over a period of time dampens the look of a time piece & if the exposure to humidity happens more often than not then the water particles might just seep into your time piece. To best protect your watch keep it safely in the watch box.
iii) Tighten The Crown before taking a Dip – Even if your watch is a water-proof one you should ensure that before you take a dip, the crown of the watch is tightened & is secured.
iv) Avoid Exposure to High Temperatures – Do not wear a high quality watch when your hands might have exposure to high temperatures, say while cooking. This discolors the time piece on your wrist.
v) That Leather Strap Breathes – Leather breathes hence it is quite similar to the human skin. It has pores which means that watches with leather straps at all times should be kept at bay from water, cosmetic products & a prolonged exposure to sunlight.
vi) Avoid Exposure to Perfumes – Perfumes might be good for you, but they act as a harmful agents for watches with leather straps. They stick to the surface of the watch which implies that the leather cannot breathe hence more damage to the leather on your watch.
vii) Avoid Wearing it During a Work Out – One should always ensure that during a work out wearing a watch should always be avoided. Be it a heavy or a light work out, the perspiration happens at all times which means generation of salts from the skin which will stick to the leather part of the watch making the leather unbreathable hence resulting in quick discoloration.
viii) Get that Watch Serviced – Be it an automatic watch or a mechanical one, a watch needs to be serviced after a period of time. The recommended time frame to get a watch serviced is between 2-4 years. Over this span you’re time piece would’ve have accumulated too much of dust & grime from the surroundings, thus a service of the watch becomes imperative.
ix) Change Battery – If the time piece you are wearing on your wrist is a battery operated one then it is highly recommended for the battery to be replaced every 2 years to prevent the battery from leaking the harmful acid it runs on and destroying the mechanism of your battery operated watch.
x) Avoid Exposure to Magnetic fields – Electricals such as speakers or refrigerators generate powerful magnetic fields while under operation. If a watch is placed on them or very close to them then this could cause your watch to run erratically & will eventually be detrimental to the function of the watch.
