If you’re moving house and you have a lot of artwork to move with you, it can be stressful trying to think about the best way to move it and to ensure that it doesn’t get damaged in the process. There are several things that you can do in order to make sure that your art remains in one piece and doesn’t get damaged at all in the process of moving from one location to another. Here are some of the things that you should do if you want to look after your items and minimise the stress of moving.
Package everything up carefully
Rather than just loading the artwork into your car or a van, you should take the time to ensure that everything is packaged up carefully. Depending on the value of the items and how careful you want to be, you may want to consider hiring somebody who can come to your premises with all the necessary equipment and package it up for you. Be careful with certain materials such as glass
While some items might not be fragile as others, you need to be extra careful if your artwork has very fragile materials. Get insurance just in case
The company that you are using to move your items might have insurance, but if you’re using a company which doesn’t offer this or you are moving the items yourself, get insurance beforehand just in case anything does happen. This will, of course, depend on how expensive the items are and how much you value them. You should ensure them at least a week before you intend to move them since some insurance policies will not cover you if anything happens straight away.
