Picking a Super Bowl Champion

Last updated on March 16, 2022

The 2021-2022 NFL regular season has officially ended and we are just days away from the Playoffs starting. With that being said, people who like to bet on sports can now try and make a bet at different sportsbooks about who they think will win the Super Bowl. This bet is called a futures bet, which usually has great odds and gives bettors a chance for a solid return on their money.

There are 14 total teams in the NFL Playoffs, but only one can be the Champion. Let’s take a look at the top teams, their NFL stats, and go over the odds for them to win the Super Bowl.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The reigning Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers come into this year’s playoffs as the third or fourth favorite to repeat as champion depending on the sportsbook that the bettor is looking at. The Buccaneers come into the playoffs as the two seed for the NFC. They have an overall record of 13-4 and have won three games in a row before their first game this weekend.

The Buccaneers are an offensive juggernaut, averaging 30.1 points per game, which is the second-best average in all of the NFL. Led by one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time Tom Brady, the Buccaneers are in a great spot to make a deep postseason run. The one thing that gets skipped over with Tampa Bay a lot, is their elite defense, giving up just 20.1 points per game, which is the fifth-best in the NFL.

Kansas City Chiefs

What a roller coaster of a season for the Kansas City Chiefs. Through the first ten games of the season, the Chiefs had a 6-4 record and there were skeptics all over the place worried about Kansas City. Luckily for the Chiefs, they were able to bounce back and go 6-1 in their last seven games. While it took a little while for the Chiefs to get going, the offensive weapons this team has to make them one of the best in the NFL.

Led by their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs offense is averaging 28.2 points per game. Kansas City also has one of the league’s best wide receivers in Tyreek Hill. This season, Hill has recorded over 1200 receiving yards with nine touchdowns. While the Chiefs defense seems to give up a lot of yards, giving up over 360 per game, they do not allow a ton of points, holding teams to 21.4 per game.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers come into the playoffs as the overall favorite to win the Super Bowl this season. The Packers finished the season with a 13-4 record, losing their last game of the regular season while sitting several of their starters for most of the game. In their last 10 games, the Packers went 7-3, including their last loss of the season. The Packers have become a steady figure in the Playoffs and look to make this one of their best runs yet.

Aaron Rodgers, despite all of the offseason drama, has had a remarkable year under center for the Packers. Rodgers is completing 69% of his pass attempts, he has thrown 37 touchdowns and has only been intercepted four times. Rodgers favorite target is Davante Adams, who has recorded 1553 yards receiving with 11 touchdowns. The Packer’s defense has proven themselves as well this season, allowing just 21.8 points per game.

Making the Pick

The odds to win the Super Bowl are extremely favorable for bettors currently. With the Packers being the ultimate favorite, there is potential for bettors to almost quadruple their money, depending on which sportsbook a bettor chooses.

The lower you go on the board, the better the odds are, however, there is a much higher risk of taking the loss. Check the odds, make your pick, and reap the rewards if your pick finds a way to be crowned the Super Bowl Champions this season.
