Abdulhussain Abdulredha – Google Doodle celebrates 83rd birthday

Google Doodle celebrates the 83rd birthday of the legendary Kuwaiti actor Abdulhussain Abdulredha (عبد الحسين عبد الرضا) on the 6th of December 2022.

Abdulhussain Abdulredha was born on December 6, 1939, to Kuwaiti Ajam parents in Derwazat Al Abdulrazzaq, Al-Awazem village, Sharq, Kuwait.

Abdulhussain Abdulredha (`bd lHsyn `bd the lrD) began his career as a printmaker in his first job in the Department of Printing of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Guidance and Information. In 1956, he was promoted to the position of Printing Manager he was on a ministry-funded trip in Egypt in order to study how print and master the art of printing. In the year 1961, he went to Germany to complete his studies in the printing arts. He was employed by the Printing Section until he was promoted to the position as an observer within the ministry of information’s Printing Section.

Before he entered the entertainment business, Abdulhussain Abdulredha studied printmaking in Egypt and Germany. In the tragi-comedy style where his humor emphasized important social concerns, the comedian discovered his specialization.

in 1992 Abdulredha was the stage director for a production about the war of the Arabs in 1992, titled Sword of the Arabs. In the course of attending an event performed by the alleged Iraqi mukhabarat an assassination attempt was unsuccessful to end his life.

in the 80s actor Abdulhussain Abdulredha also played Iraq’s Saddam Hussein in a play and was praised from the audience for his portrayal.

The genre of social and political was ignited through his writing. Abdulhussain founded and managed an entertainment television channel in 2006 dubbed Funoon TV, which was the first Arabic-language channel that focused on comedy.

Abdulhussain Abdulredha (عبد الحسين عبد الرضا) was well-known for his ability to deliver humorous social and political commentary. His famous monologues gained him fans across all over the Arab world.

Abdulhussain Abdulredha’s final role was on”Selfie 3,” a 2017. MBC TV show “Selfie 3,” which aired during Ramadan.

Darb Al Zalaq (1977), Dars Khososi (1981) as well as Al Hailha (2003) were among his numerous acting roles. Abdulhussain was a part of and produced more than 30 plays and TV series during his fifty-year acting career.

On August 11, 2017 Abdulhussain Abdulredha died of a heart attack at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London aged 78. His most popular comedy films, “Bye Bye London,” about wealthy Arabs who go to London in order to establish themselves in the city, was named after the city in which he passed away.

Abdulhussain’s strong singing voice, bold political commentary, and the role of the father character as a father figure in Kuwaiti comics are well-known. His comedy was entertaining as well as challenged viewers to think about aspects that influence Arab societies.

In honor of Abdulhussain’s birthday, Google featured a Google Doodle on its homepage on the 6th of December 2022. Ahmed Al-Refaie (owaikeo), one of the guest artists from Kuwait City, provided the design for the current Google Doodle, which commemorates the birthday of 83-year-old Kuwaiti actor as well as singer, playwright as well as comedian Abdulhussain Abdulredha (عبد الحسين عبد الرضا).
