Vaishno Devi Temple and Places to Visit

There are many theories and many discussions has been done on how this world was started and from where the seed of life been germinated. There are many theories and many opinions but the answer to all theories is one and the answer is power. The power which gives birth to life, which nourishes it and which destroy it and in Hindu mythology this power is called “Shakti”.

Many mythologists believes that its Goddess Shakti is the source of life and may be this is one of the many reasons that people of different country and beliefs worship women as an Goddess Shakti, the one who is the alpha and the omega.

Today in our post we are going to discuss about the Goddess and her temple which has opened the new doors of belief, faith and devotion. We are going to discuss about the temple of Vaishno Devi. Situated on the Trikuta hills in Jammu region of Jammu Kashmir, the temple holds a significant position in India tourism. Lots of National and International travellers visit this temple and seek blessings of Goddess Vaishno.

It is believed that Goddess Vaishno, who is also known as Mata Rani, is the source of all the energies in this cosmos. So lets’ proceed further and start with our tour to Vaishno Devi and discuss about the best places to visit near Vaishno Devi temple. 

Vaishno Devi Temple

The temple is located in Katra town of Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir, the north Indian state. The temple is lying on the Trikuta Hill. To reach temple, the pilgrims must cross the trekking destination under which they have to walk around 13 km uphill to reach the shrine. The shrine is a little cave which is also called the Garbh Grah and is believed to be one of the 108 shaktipeetha.

When you reached at the Garbh Grah you will see the cave is comprises of three holy pindis (stone representation) each pindi signifies each form of energy, that Satva, Tama and Raja guna (energy) each pindi signifies one Goddess, Mata Sarasvati, Mata Mahakali and Mata Mahalaxmi respectively.

The trek to the shrine is quite enjoyable filled with various shops and one will just get lots in the divine hails of “Jai Mata Di”. For Kids and old age people, ponies and palanquins are available to take them to the top. In all it’s a great place to visit once in your life. 

Ardh Kuwari Cave

To reach the divine shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, you have to take route from Ardh Kuwari Cave. It is believed that Mata Vaishno Devi has taken rest here for 9 months before he took Bhawan as her adobe. It is a kind of stopover for pilgrims to reach Bhawan.

People have to crawl on their kneed to reach the other side of the cave. At the other side of the cave you will see a large shrine, the garbhgrah of Goddess Saraswati, Maha-Laxmi and Maha-Kaali.

Baba Bhairav Nath Temple

It is believed that the journey to Mata Vaishno Devi temple remain incomplete without giving a visit to Bhairavnath Temple. The temple is dedicated to a saint by the same name. From the Bhawan of Goddess Vaishno Devi, the temple of Bhairavnath is approximately 2 km away. One can cherish the picturesque views of the mountains and the natural beauty of the nearby area.  If you wish you can also take ponies to climb on the steep stairs.
