What Are Growth Factors and Why Are They So Effective?

If you’re looking for an expert dermatologist’s consultation for skin care products to use, you will be mostly met with the same types of products: sunscreen, alpha hydroxy acids, peptides, retinol and antioxidants.

However, a new active ingredient has been identified which can significantly help combat the signs of aging on your skin. Growth factors are essentially chemicals naturally produced by your body to promote the growth of new cells, and stimulate the cells to produce collagen and elastin.

Growth factors are naturally produced in abundance in youth, nut as your age increases, the production of these growth factors slows down, and so does the production of all those compounds that keep your skin looking young and plump.

These can be externally provided by application of stem cell growth factor serum or other such growth-factor containing serums.

Growth factors have been proven to help even out skin, tighten the wrinkles, boost collagen production, increase the production of skin cells and overall give a more youthful appearance.

But why are growth factors so effective compared to other skin serums?

And if they are produced by living tissue, where are they obtained from to use in serums?

To answer the first question, it’s probably because these growth factors are already a part of our natural biology. They are large proteins present in abundance in our bodies, and help cells communicate important messages related to their growth and survival.

The growth factors are basically like keys, and their receptors are the locks. Once that key fits into the lock, it can promote growth, healing and rejuvenation.

These growth receptors are present in abundance when we are young, but as we age, lesser and lesser amounts of these growth factors are produced as we grow older.

Adding to the already reducing amount of collagen in our skin as we age, there are also external factors to be considered. Pollution, weight fluctuations, sun exposure, all exacerbates the already existing problem due to aging.

The growth factors can act a sort of replacement therapy for what your body cannot make in enough quantity anymore. They are capable of reviving basic skin repair and growth function at cellular level.

They increase the cellular turnover, boost collagen production, and research is being conducted to help growth factors work on correcting under-eye bags, sunken scars, and even acne. Clearly, this is quite a miracle treatment.

However, some individuals still hesitate to use this product, and it may be because of the source of the growth factors.

These growth factors are primarily produced from human stem cells, which may be from fat cells, bone marrow or even umbilical cord tissue. The fact that the product comes from human cells may cause a bit of alarm to some.

However, there are certain companies that have introduced human-like epidermal growth factor into bioengineered barley seeds. Form the seeds the growth factor is then extracted and used in serums, completely avoiding the human cell factor.

Whatever the source, the stem cell growth factor serum always gives delivers positive results.
